that fish is not tasty

Our current hostel in Bergen, Norway, is that luxurious that we even have a computer and internet in the common room! So now I can let you people know what we've been up to in the last days.
Friday Wilbert and I arrived in Bergen and had no problem whatsoever getting from the airport to the first (not-so-good) hotel. The next day we had a walk around a arrived at Jacobs Dorm.no which has 12-person dorms with a kitchen and common room: nice!
At noon we met Dinho, my Mozambican friend and informant, and had a look around town, especially the part called 'Bryggen'. This is the World Heritage site on which the whole cooperation between Bergen and Ilha de Mocambique is based. Dinho told us a lot about the former houses that were blown away by an explosion on a ship (in 1600 or so) and about the specific renovations going on. I was exhausted after a day of looking around, moving our bags to the dorm, speaking Portuguese and English and trying to read Norwegian...
Yesterday we had arranged with Dinho to meet him at the same time... only he didn't know that this weekend we start daylight saving time. So I found him still a bit sleepy, but nevertheless he was happy I told him about the one hour difference, for he would have missed it completely and arrive at work too late on Monday. Anyway, we had a good fieldwork session with lots of Makhuwa!
Two hours later Wilbert joined us and the three of us went over to a Mozambican friend of Dinho's to have lunch. We then spent the afternoon in the Bergen Aquarium:
The Dutch point of view: "Why would this fish have colours like that?"
The Mozambican point of view: "Yes, we know this fish, but it is not tasty at all...".
We all agreed that the penguins were the best attraction. The day was ended with dinner in an organic (økologisk) restaurant.
That's what I like best here: no smoking in restaurants and bars, lots of organic food and real tea you can choose to put in your (large) cup of hot water. We'll enjoy ourselves a bit more here!
